Pork - The "Pure" Facts

One of the concerns we often hear is trichinosis in pork.  In North America there are less than a dozen cases of Trichinosis reported annually. These cases are typically from people eating wild boar, walrus, bear, free range hogs, horse, and just about anything but commercially grown hogs.

Canada's domestic pork supply is considered Trichinella free according to CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency). Essentially all diseases and parasites have been eradicated from Canadian and US production.

Pork is the most consumed meat in the world and has a higher digestibility than beef, chicken or lamb. There is more energy in Pork per pound than beef, chicken, fish or lamb. Pork has an excellent amino acid profile and is one of only a few meats naturally high in L-Carnitine (which your body builds from Lysine). L-Carnitine helps metabolize food into energy, promotes growth and development and improves cardiovascular health. Pork is a unique protein source and therefore hypoallergenic, and is very palatable.
